Mid-West Seed Services Inc. now authorized for seed sampling and testing for U.S. OECD Seed Schemes program
Brookings, South Dakota
November 2, 2006

Mid-West Seed Services Inc. (MWSS) is pleased to announce that we are now authorized by USDA for seed sampling and testing for U.S. OECD Seed Schemes program. Visit the USDA website for more information www.ams.usda.gov/lsg/seed/oecd.htm.

  1. Sampling for OECD – if you have an ISTA authorized sampler (trained by MWSS) on your staff, they can sample OECD lots, but must use the AOSA seed sampling methods and intensities. If you have an employee that has been trained by MWSS and passed the examination in sampling, your employee can become authorized to sample seed lots for OECD. Lot size requirements are still governed by ISTA lot size maximums. Questions, call Tim or Kalyn (877-692-7611).
  2. Submitting seed samples – once samples are collected by an authorized sampler, complete sample identification information, including an indication of “OECD sample” and submit. For submitting samples by Sample Track® 4.0 software, insert words “OECD sample” in either the OD1 or OD2 field. Follow normal AOSA guidelines for amount of seed to submit; on larger seed species, please submit at least 600 grams.
  3. Seed analysis reports – will be available as always online at mwseed.com through “Test Results” with your account number and password. If your Seed Certification Agency (SCA) wishes to obtain results online, we will set up OECD-sample specific accounts with the SCA, allowing them to view and download seed analysis data.
  4. OECD file/reference sample – would be submitted to the SCA along with the OECD tag request.

On our website you will be able to see all of your test results immediately after they are done. We also offer other seed testing services at MWSS so please check out our website (www.mwseed.com) for details.
