Invitation to comment on
a Consultation Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan
(RARMP) for Commercial Release of Genetically Modified (GM)
Herbicide Tolerant Cotton: DIR 062/2005
Australia’s gene technology regulatory system is designed to
protect the health & safety of people & the environment by
identifying risks posed by, or as a result of, gene
technology & managing those risks.
The Gene
Technology Regulator is currently assessing licence
application DIR 062/2005 from Bayer CropScience Pty Ltd for
the unrestricted, commercial release of a genetically
modified (GM) herbicide tolerant cotton in Australia.
The
Regulator has prepared a Risk Assessment & Risk Management
Plan (RARMP) for the proposed release.
The
Regulator welcomes written submissions in order to finalise
the RARMP. The RARMP will then form the basis of the
Regulator’s decision on whether or not to issue the licence.
The consultation RARMP & related documents can be obtained
from website www.ogtr.gov.au under ‘What’s New’ or by
contacting the Office. Please quote application DIR 62
in any correspondence.
