Syngenta Seeds names Steve Knodle as new Agrisure Traits Marketing Manager
Golden Valley, Minnesota
June 27, 2006

Syngenta Seeds announces the appointment of Steve Knodle as Agrisure Traits marketing manager. He will develop and implement marketing strategies to promote awareness for Agrisure traits as the elite choice for the corn grower.

Knodle has held sales and marketing positions with Syngenta for nine years. A 1997 graduate of the University of Illinois, he most recently was an account manager with Syngenta Crop Protection and directed sales and marketing activities in several Midwestern states.  He also has served as marketing representative for Syngenta in Iowa and Illinois.

“We’re excited to bring Steve on board,” says Jack Bernens, Head, Agrisure Traits.  “His experience and leadership within Syngenta will help the Agrisure business more effectively bring the broad range of choices and customized crop protection solutions to corn growers.”

Adds Knodle: “Syngenta is in a position to provide innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of growers. Farmers continue to search for the competitive edge to maximize return on their acres and Syngenta continues to deliver integrated solutions that allow them to be successful.”

Agrisure traits include:

  • Agrisure CB/LL, which protects corn crops from damage by European corn borers and also features resistance to Liberty® herbicide;

  • Agrisure GT, which provides tolerance to glyphosate herbicides; and

  • the Agrisure GT/CB/LL stack.

Syngenta is also preparing to launch a new corn rootworm trait (MIR604*), which will be commercialized as Agrisure™ RW in elite hybrids of Garst®, Golden Harvest®, NK® Brand and other leading seed brands.  This new corn rootworm protection is in the late stages of approval and is expected to be available to growers in the U.S. for planting in the 2007 season.

Syngenta is a world-leading agribusiness committed to sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. The company is a leader in crop protection, and ranks third in the high-value commercial seeds market. Sales in 2005 were approximately $8.1 billion.
