Gedera. Israel
January 27, 2006January
27th 2006 will be a date to remember for the
Zeraim family
worldwide. On this special day, Zeraim Mexico opened its 3
hectare R&D station, located in Mexico’s main intensive
agricultural area, the great Culiacan Valley, a vast and highly
developed region where technology had reached levels similar to
those found in countries like Israel, Holland and Spain.
The first objectives of Zeraim
Mexico R&D Station will be to allow breeders and product
managers to identify and select both hybrids and parental lines
of different species, which must be adapted not only to local
weather conditions but also to soil-borne diseases and viruses
transmitted by different vectors.
As a second objective, Zeraim
Mexico R&D Station enable to establish demonstration plots of
the different species in order to expose them to local and
foreign framers, as well as dealers.
Zeraim Mexico R&D Station must
allow the guests to have an informative experience, since they
can observe different cultivars grown both in the open field and
under protected cultivation. This will contribute substantially
to their decisions in terms of varieties, date of planting, and
cultural labors among other aspects.
The Grand Opening was conducted
by Mr. J.Luis Gonzalez Beristain (Mexico Operation Manager) who
gave a warm welcome to Zeraim Gedera Directors, Israel's
Commercial Attaché, Federal Authorities, Dealers and Growers.
At the end of the ceremony and
after a tour around the facilities, Zeraim Mexico personal
offered lunch with a Mexican touch that was present not only in
the food but also by the great music preformed by local
musicians called “mariachis”. |
