Growers planting
Garst® brand corn hybrids
have won top honors at the state and national level of the 2005
National Corn Growers Association
(NCGA) Corn Yield Contest announced recently.
Two
farmers, including a grower from Kansas and a grower from
Missouri, won second place and third place in two separate
categories in the national contest. In all, 24 farmers growing
Garst hybrids placed first, second or third in their state
contests with yields ranging between 138 to 284 bushels per
acre.
The NCGA Corn Yield Contest is an annual
competition held nationally among corn producers with the goal
of producing the highest yields. Growers compete in a number of
production categories, including non-irrigated,
no-till/strip-till non-irrigated, no-till/strip-till irrigated,
ridge-till non-irrigated, ridge-till irrigated and irrigated
classes.
