EnviroLogix announces its newest plant pathogen test kit: Bacterial Fruit Blotch
Portland, Maine
January 3, 2006

EnviroLogix Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of its newest plant pathogen test offering, QuickStix™ Kit for Bacterial Fruit Blotch. It is the quickest, easiest, and most accurate lateral flow strip to detect bacterial fruit blotch infections in plant tissue.

The QuickStix Kit is proven to provide a qualitative (presence/absence) answer in the greenhouse or field. The five-minute test is simple enough for anyone to use, and all the necessary materials are included. This diagnostic tool gives commercial growers, greenhouse managers, transplant suppliers, and field scouts a rapid and reliable tool to detect this devastating disease in its earliest stages of infection.

The test can detect one symptomatic leaf spot caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli at a very early stage, when it is often difficult to differentiate its leaf spot symptom from other bacterial, viral and fungal infections and/or damage. The test can also be used to detect and/or verify advanced symptoms, and does not cross react with several other similar looking diseases such as Pseudomonas spp.

The QuickStix Kit for Bacterial Fruit Blotch (Cat. No. AS 048) is available directly from EnviroLogix with a US List price of $195. Each kit contains test strips and disposables for 50 tests, and a 20-strip field kit is also available. Detailed information on the EnviroLogix kits is available at www.envirologix.com (click on “Catalog,” then “Plant Pathogens” for more details about the BFB kit).
