Vietnam allocates funds to develop biotechnology in agriculture

The Prime Minister has decided to grant over VND11 billion ($700,000) to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement projects on biotechnology development in agriculture.

The sum will be taken from the finance for science and technology in 2006 that is currently under the management of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The PM assigned the Finance Ministry to provide finance through the Ministry of Education and Training for training public officials overseas for the national key programme on biotechnology development and application in agriculture and rural development through 2020.

The Finance Ministry was also assigned to earmark VND591 million ($36,000) to buy equipment for an office that manages the programme.
