The Latham name has been associated with the production of
high-quality seeds for 60 years, and the legacy continues as
Latham Hi-Tech
Hybrids are now available in Iowa, Minnesota, South
Dakota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Latham’s 2007 corn lineup
includes 11 new hybrids, of which six are triple-stacks,
four are double-stacks and one is a single-trait hybrid.
Twenty-five of the 32 products offered by Latham Hi-Tech
Hybrids in 2007 feature multiple, high-value traits
including Roundup Ready® Corn 2, YieldGard®
Corn Borer and YieldGard® Rootworm.
In addition, eight of the
top-producing Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids are now certified as
Processor Preferred® for High Fermentable Corn
(HFC) and/or High Extractable Starch (HES).
“We’re proud to introduce our
2007 corn hybrid lineup, featuring the industry’s newest
traits and technology,” says John Latham, president, Latham
Hi-Tech Hybrids. “Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids offers 12
triple-stack hybrids with YieldGard® Plus and
Roundup Ready Corn 2. This technology is sweeping the
Midwest because it controls the largest two yield robbers –
corn borer and corn rootworm – and is the most
cost-effective weed control on the market today.”
Latham says early season sales
remain strong for Roundup Ready Corn 2 hybrids because
growers like the cost savings that the system offers along
with the flexibility, weed control, crop safety and
tremendous yields. He also sees growth in the demand for
YieldGard technology.
“Forty-five percent of our
2006 sales were triple-stack hybrids, and we sold an average
of 2.2 traits per hybrid,” says Latham. “The high adoption
rate is evidence that growers understand the need for, and
are satisfied with, the latest corn technology. We also see
a lot of opportunity for growers to benefit from technology,
and we’re proud to offer them a variety of high-tech hybrids
to choose from ranging from a relative maturity (RM) of 92
to 114.”
NEW
HYBRIDS FOR 2007
-
LH-4546-RRBTRW, a
triple-stack hybrid, is designated as Processor Preferred
for both High Fermentable Corn and High Extractable Starch.
It has excellent roots and stalks, dries down quickly and
yields big. It has a RM of 95.
-
LH-5116-RRBTRW has
excellent stress tolerance, root and stalk strength plus
stay green. This triple-stack hybrid performs well in the
101 RM.
LH-5301-RR contains the Roundup Ready Corn 2 trait. With a
103 RM, it’s a great refuge option. This promising, new
genetics package features excellent yield potential, dry
down, standability and disease resistance.
-
LH-5446-RRBTRW is a
triple-stack hybrid that combines great yield with excellent
standability and plant health with top yields. This new
superstar hybrid has a RM of 104.
-
LH-5845-RRBT has
excellent early vigor, root strength and dry down. This new
double-stack hybrid excelled in Latham’s 2005 research plots
in Iowa. It has a RM of 108.
-
LH-6064-BTRW is an
adaptable YieldGard Plus hybrid. With a RM of 110, it
should be a star for growers who aren’t planting Roundup
Ready Corn 2. This hybrid has the same genetics package as
the new LH-6067-RRBTRW.
-
LH-6067-RRBTRW is a
triple-stack hybrid that offers tremendous disease
resistance, including good Gray Leaf Spot (GLS) tolerance.
This top-yielding hybrid has a RM of 110 and performed well
all across central Iowa.
-
LH-6277-RRBTRW should be
a triple-stack superstar. With a RM of 112, it offers great
performance in a wide area from eastern Nebraska to eastern
Iowa. This new hybrid combines high yields with excellent
standability, consistency and drought tolerance.
-
LH-6227-RRBTRW is a
triple-stack, chart topper with a proven genetics package
and excellent ear flex. It performs best on better soils,
so avoid areas prone to GLS. It has a RM of 112.
-
LH-6273-RRBT is a new
double-stack genetics package that combines high yields with
standability, consistency and drought tolerance. An RM of
112, it offers great performance in a wide area from eastern
Nebraska to eastern Iowa.
