Bayer CropScience
is cooperating closely with the
U.S. Department of Agriculture and
U.S. Food and Drug Administration
in connection with the biotechnology traces Bayer CropScience
identified in samples of commercial rice in the United States.
The USDA and FDA have confirmed that this rice poses no human
health, food or feed safety or environmental concern.
These traces
relate to a pre-commercial rice line, LLRICE601, developed by
Bayer CropScience that produces a protein conferring herbicide
tolerance. The protein is well known to regulators and has been
confirmed safe for food and feed use in a number of crops by
regulators in many countries, including the EU, Japan, Mexico,
U.S. and Canada. |
