Canadian Wheat Board - Preliminary results of the 2006-07 variety survey
Winnipeg, Manitoba
August 14, 2006

Each year, the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) surveys western Canadian farmers to gather information about the varieties of wheat, durum, malting barley, hulless barley and feed barley grown across Western Canada.

The information is used by the CWB to plan for the upcoming marketing year and is shared with other members of the grain industry. By monitoring production trends, wheat and barley breeders, seed companies, grain companies, customers and other farmers are better able to plan for the future.

As of August 10, 2006, the CWB has received 5,000 submissions for the 2006-07 variety survey. Click on the link below to see these results. The complete variety survey will be available later this fall.
