As part of a multi-year
capital investment in its seed plants throughout the
Midwest, Syngenta is
establishing a new seed customization and distribution
warehouse facility in Clinton, Illinois. The plant will
supply corn seed to customers of Golden Harvest®, Garst® and
NK® Brand throughout the eastern Corn Belt.
“With this new plant, we
will be able to triple the amount of seed we prepare,
package and distribute for farmers throughout the region,”
says Mike Hollands, Golden Valley, Minnesota, supply chain
head for Syngenta. “With the increasing number of new
products being introduced for corn growers, it is very
important to have facilities and people that allow us to be
flexible and customer-responsive. We will be managing up to
5,000 different corn product options, custom-ordered by
farmers, and we will ship up to a million bags of seed every
year from this facility.”
Farmers will plant up to
three million acres in several states with Golden Harvest,
Garst and NK Brand seed from the Clinton facility.
In addition to the new
facility at Clinton, Syngenta also has major corn shipping
facilities for the eastern Corn Belt at Paris and Pekin,
Illinois, and Lone Tree, Iowa.
