A healthy oil made from rapeseed variety 'Nexera' will be developed by United Oilseeds Marketing Ltd thanks to the help of an HGCA Enterprise Award of £31,000.

The GM free, high oleic oil will meet increased demand by consumers and processors for healthier "trans fat free" foods and ingredients.

This development will also reduce the need for imports of other oils into the UK by providing a domestic supply. An extra 10,000 tonnes of grain will be used in the first year of this project.
