Syngenta has
introduced its 2006 AgriEdge™ Corn and Soybean programs, the
most comprehensive selection ever offered for protecting crops
from planting through harvest. The innovative programs comprise
a full portfolio of seed, seed treatment, traits and crop
protection products – along with crop-performance assurances and
technical expertise – to help manage risk, control costs and
maximize yields and profitability.
“AgriEdge allows growers to take control and be
pro-active about their input decisions,” says Travis Dickinson,
Head, New Business Development, Syngenta Seeds. “While many
crop input programs seem to put more emphasis on limitations and
restrictions, Syngenta has designed AgriEdge for the purpose of
offering growers choices and flexibility, allowing them to make
the right decisions at the right time.”
AgriEdge Corn – More Options, More Control
AgriEdge Corn provides growers with comprehensive
protection from planting to harvest through
state-of-the-industry risk management assurances. Growers who
plant a corn hybrid with an Agrisure trait (Agrisure CB for
season-long corn borer protection; Agrisure GT with proven
glyphosate tolerance; or Agrisure GT/CB, the stacked traits) are
automatically eligible for the AgriEdge Corn program.
In addition to premium genetics and assurances
that come with hybrids featuring Agrisure™ traits, growers
participating in AgriEdge Corn choose from a wide range of weed
and insect management options for protection against weed
escapes, pests and crop loss. AgriEdge technology reinvestments
of up to $21 per acre ensure that growers only pay for the
herbicide traits they use.
AgriEdge Soybeans – A New Way to Think about the
Crop
Designed to help growers break through the yield
barrier, AgriEdge Soybeans features premium genetics combined
with insect and disease risk management tools for protection
from planting to harvest. The program encourages growers to
apply a Syngenta fungicide, insecticide or seed treatment
product on up to 40 acres by providing an assurance that the
yield increase will offset the additional input expenses.
Now in its second year, AgriEdge Soybeans
provides participating growers with production information from
other soybean producers.
They
receive individual and aggregated trial results from
participants across the country, which allows them to identify
profit-optimizing practices, receive analyses of yield-impacting
factors and compare their own results to national and regional
data.
“With the AgriEdge Soybeans program, we hope
growers will overcome the yield plateau many of them are
experiencing,” Dickinson says. “We’ve already seen
seven-bushel-per-acre yield increases in the first trial period.
That’s just the beginning. Drawing on the soybean data we
gather, we’re going to highlight the production problems, solve
them and share best practices.”
