Producer’s Choice has acquired the assets of PGI Alfalfa from Seminis Inc.
Woodland, California
September 1, 2005

The PGI brand of alfalfa has been marketed in the US for over twenty-five years and is well known in California and other key markets for varieties such as Sutter and Mecca.  In the late 80s the company acquired a competitive firm that added a dormant alfalfa program for the Midwest and Eastern states.

All the employees of PGI Alfalfa have accepted positions with Producer’s Choice.  The combined organization will continue to service and support all current customers with existing products as well as new traits and technologies as they enter the marketplace.  An expanded product line and pro-growth way of doing business will create opportunities for current and new customers alike.

Producer’s Choice is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cal/West Seeds, the largest US grower owned company devoted exclusively to development, production and marketing of seed.  Cal/West Seeds is recognized around the world as a leader in forage breeding with over 70 years of experience.  Major research programs are centered in the upper Midwest and the West Coast.

Terms of the transactions were not announced.
