Jiffy of the Americas,
Inc., a leading supplier of plant propagation products based
in Norwalk, Ohio announced October 27, 2005 the North American
acquisition of Fulton, Kentucky based
Ferry-Morse Seed Company,
purchasing 100% of their stock. By joining forces through the
acquisition, Jiffy will be expanding their presence within the
North American home and garden market where Ferry-Morse has been
a major player since 1856.
“We are very happy to be expanding our presence in the North
American home garden market and we look forward to continuing
the development of Ferry Morse’s highly successful business,”
says Årstein Knutson, President of Jiffy International AS.
Jiffy of the Americas, Inc. is a major manufacturer of
propagation products consisting of environmentally friendly
peat, wood pulp, and coir pith. Jiffy products simplify the act
of transplanting and ensure rapid growth and healthy plants for
growers, from professional greenhouses to the forestry industry
to hobby gardeners, worldwide.
Ferry-Morse Seed Company is the oldest active seed company in
North America. Ferry-Morse caters directly to the consumer
market, selling seed related products such as seed starter
products, grass seed and a variety of gardening aids to be used
for planting seed. Ferry-Morse will be a brand name under the
Jiffy of the Americas, Inc. product line.
“By acquiring Ferry-Morse Seed Company, Jiffy will now be able
to cater more toward the garden hobbyist,” says Daniel Schrodt,
President of Jiffy of the Americas, Inc. “Although the
professional grower industry is the backbone of Jiffy’s
operation, the acquisition has created a clear synergy between
the companies, allowing us both to complement each others’ lines
nicely.”
Both companies see future market potential areas where they each
already have a brand name base and also a future for new
products that will rollout very soon. |
