Jerry
Meyer has been named to fill a new management position with
Stauffer Seeds.
He became the company’s Business Development Manager in
September. In this new role, Meyer will work in the
recruitment arena, identifying and hiring new field sales
personnel as well as working with existing Stauffer staff to
bring new dealers and customers on board.
“When you
look at what Stauffer Seeds is doing and where we’re going,
the opportunity for growth is amazing given what’s going on
in the industry,” Meyer commented. “I think Stauffer is
poised, because of our strong brand recognition and
excellent upper management staff, to grow this company
dramatically and do it quickly. I look forward to being part
of that growth, helping Stauffer Seeds achieve its goals in
the next three to five years.”
In
addition to his new responsibilities as Business Development
Manager, Meyer will continue to serve as a Stauffer Seeds
Field Sales Manager and Team Leader. “It’s important to stay
in touch with what customers are experiencing,” he
explained.
Meyer has
been with Stauffer Seeds since 2001. As a Field Sales
Manager with the company, he grew his own territory in
Nebraska from scratch. Then, as a Team Leader, he works with
territory sales managers to grow their sales as well. “I’m
here to help facilitate Stauffer’s growth,” Meyer remarked.
”We bring a real sense of customer service to the industry.
We have an awesome corn line up and an awesome soybean line
up. Stauffer knows how to place those products in the right
place for our customers to succeed.”
Maintaining involvement in his brothers’ farm enterprise
also gives Meyer a valuable perspective on the seed
industry. “You can go out and recommend hybrids all day
long, but if you don’t have experience or have them on your
farm, it doesn’t mean as much. Customers are going to see
that,” Meyer said.
Mike
Smidt, Director of Sales and Marketing for Stauffer Seeds,
said the company is pleased to have Meyer take on his new
position. “Jerry is an outstanding individual, a person who
knows and understands Stauffer Seeds,” Smidt commented. “We
could not have a better, more enthusiastic person become our
Business Development Manager. He’s a terrific salesman and
an experienced recruiter we are proud to have working in the
field for us.”
Prior to
joining Stauffer Seeds, Meyer worked for Cargill, ConAgra,
and Smithfield Foods. In each of these positions, he was
involved in recruitment and sales.
Meyer and
his family live near Pawnee City, Nebraska. He is a graduate
of Kansas State University with a degree in agricultural
economics and minor in business marketing. Meyer’s wife,
Kris, is a registered nurse and together they are the
parents of Hayden, 9; Hannah, 7; and Henry, almost 2.
In his
free time, Meyer enjoys working with his brothers on their
farm as well as sports. He coaches his son’s baseball team
and participates in athletics himself. In the winter, he
enjoys skiing in Colorado.
