The 53rd meeting of the
Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) was held
on 13th April 2005 in the Ministry of
Environment and Forests under the Chairmanship of Shri
Suresh Chandra, Special Secretary & Chairman GEAC.
Before
taking up the items on the Agenda for the meeting, the
Committee considered the request from Gene Campaign,
Greenpeace, Federation of Farmers Association, Karnataka
and Confederation of Indian Farmers Association and gave an
opportunity to present their views and experience with Bt
Cotton.
