Fontanelle Hybrids acquires Kaup Seed
Fontanelle, Nebraska
March 1, 2005

Fontanelle Hybrids, of Fontanelle, Nebraska announces the purchase of Kaup Seed, West Point, NE. “This was a good fit for us,” Steve Pike, sales manager said. “The philosophy of customer service, a Midwest geography and our product line ups were similar so we believe that this purchase will help strengthen our offerings to our customers—both current Fontanelle customers and our new Kaup Seed customers.”

Customers will continue to see business as usual as the transition progresses. “Kaup Seed customers will be able to purchase their favorite products in the Kaup Seed name. The advantage is that they will also be able to purchase products from the Fontanelle line up, including our premium High Cycle products,” Pike said. “And Fontanelle customers will gain the additional products brought on board from the Kaup Seed line up. It’s a win-win situation.”

“We anticipate the transition to go quickly and smoothly. Current Kaup management and the Kaup sales team will remain on board with Fontanelle. Each of the district territories fits within a current Fontanelle regional team so it works,” Pike said. Doug Dudney, Fontanelle’s director of field services, will lead the transition process. The Kaup Seed headquarters in West Point will be maintained as a regional retail office for Fontanelle. The purchase includes the corn and soybean sales division of Kaup. It does not affect Kaup fertilizer or the Kaup forage division in Norfolk, NE.
