The presentation was made by the Queen’s Representative,
Mr.George Bodin, Deputy Lieutenant of Ealing, to Mr Alan
Hillary, Sales Director and Mr Ben Stanborough, Territory
Manager. In emphasising the extent of Sortex’s achievement Mr.
Bodin said, “These awards are greatly sought and sparingly
given. In fact, Sortex is one of only ten companies in the whole
of Greater London who have won this award for International
Trade in 2005. It is a worthy recognition of your creative
technology and outstanding home and overseas sales performance.”
Mr Bruno Mendler,
Head of the
Grain Processing Division,
was present on behalf of Sortex’s parent company, The Swiss
Buhler Group and other prominent guests included Lyn Brown, MP
for West Ham and Civic Ambassador, Maureen Jones.
Bruno Kilshaw, Sortex Managing Director, is a veteran of these
ceremonies. “Sortex has grown to become a world leader in
optical sorting technology since it was founded in 1947,” he
said. “We export 98 per cent of our production to 43 countries
and our commitment to the industry has led to this, our 5th
Queen’s Award since their inception. I know that I speak for
every member of our highly gifted team when I say that we see
this award not as the end of a journey but a staging post on the
way to even greater achievement.”
Sortex, based in London, is a member of the Swiss Buhler Group.
Buhler is a global Technology Group and the system partner for
plant, equipment, and process know-how in Food Processing,
