Dairyland Seed announces Yieldmaster Contest winners

Dairyland Seed recently announced the National and State winners for its annual Corn and Soybean Yieldmaster Contests. 

The title of National Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to Doug Bush of Fulton, IL.  Doug had a yield of 290.01 bushels per acre with Stealth-1609.  Tom Wolf of New Bavaria, OH, was awarded National Soybean Yieldmaster with a yield of 81.75 bushels per acre with DSR-297/RR.    The Early Zone Soybean Yieldmaster was awarded to Bill Mueller of Big Stone City, SD and the Early Zone Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to David Jacobs of New Lothrup, Michigan.  Individual state winners were also awarded as follows:

            Iowa Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Bernard Wagner of Osage; second place Jim Vaske of Dyersville; and third place Steve Johnston of Eldridge.

            Iowa Soybean Yieldmaster: First place, Kirk Koberg of Walcott.

            Illinois Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Doug Bush of Fulton; second place, Mike Thill of Lena; and third place, Tom Imel of Chadwick.

            Illinois Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Richard Wilkening of Hinckley; second place, John and Jason Huneke of Lena; and third place went to Dean Koch of Rock City.

            Indiana Corn Yieldmasters:  Scott Nelson of Brook; second place, Brad Abnet of Berne; and third place went to Dan Abnet of Berne.

            Indiana Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Dave Norris of Huntington; second place, Mike Heckber of Ossian; and third place went to Leon Monhaut of Bremen.

Michigan Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Vaughn Buchholz, of Grand Ledge; second place, John Martin of Pewamo; and third place went to Brian Fix of Pittsford. 

            Michigan Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Bob & Todd Benjamin of Webberville; second place, Robert Krafft of Frankenmuth; and third place, Mark Schieffer of Vassar.

            Minnesota Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Alan Albrecht, of Mapleton; second place, Doug Rossbach of Hanska; and third place went to Mark LeGare of Lafayette.

            Minnesota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Richard Stangler of Kilkenny; second place, Alan Albrecht of Mapleton; and third place, Mark LeGare of Lafayette.

            Ohio Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Robert Meyer, of Napoleon; second place, Bill and Bob Myers of Oregon; and third place went to Joe Will of Ft. Recovery.

            Ohio Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Tom Wolf of New Bavaria; second place went to Jim Knueven of Leipsic; and third place went to Randy and Rodney Rosebrock of Napoleon.

            North Dakota Yieldmasters:  Corn – Boyd Brummond of Havanna; Soybeans – Tim Berntson of Buffalo.

            South Dakota Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Ryan Knutson, of Canton; second place Dave Stratmeyer of Lennox and third place went to Roger Hurlburt of Clark.

            South Dakota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Bill Mueller of Big Stone City; and second place, Michael Lee Hemmingson of Centerville.

            Wisconsin Corn Yieldmasters:  First place, Brian and Cindy Krull, of Lake Mills; second place, Dale Guenterberg of Waterloo; and third place went to Doug Brander of Spring Green.

            Wisconsin Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Doug Brander of Spring Green; and Second place went to Larry Klabunde of Oshkosh.

According to Tom Strachota, CEO, “These are fabulous yields from outstanding producers.  Our goal is to develop improved genetics because I know these producers have the capability of hitting even higher yield levels.  With 15% of our revenues invested in research, I’m confident that together we can accomplish this goal.

Dairyland Seed recently celebrated its 95th Anniversary in 2002.  Dairyland spends 15% of its revenues on plant breeding and is the only family-held seed company with breeding in hybrid corn, alfalfa and soybeans.
