AgReliant Genetics, LLC acquires the assets and business of Producers Hybrids, Inc.

AgReliant Genetics, LLC of Westfield, Indiana announced today that it has acquired the assets and business of Producers Hybrids, Inc. of Battle Creek, Nebraska. Producers Hybrids markets corn, soybean, alfalfa and other agricultural seeds to farmers, primarily in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri.

The President and CEO of AgReliant Genetics, Raphael Journel, stated that "AgReliant Genetics has had consistent, strong growth in sales since its founding in 2000.   We are very pleased that Producers Hybrids, a dynamic and growing seed company in the western Corn Belt, will complement our existing market strengths in the eastern and northern Corn Belt areas. Producers will offer AgReliant a new, significant presence in the western Corn Belt and provide an excellent foundation for future growth. As a result of this alliance, Producers will be in a position to offer many new and exciting products to its customers that have been developed by our breeding programs." Mr. Journel continued, "We see our alliance with Producers as a further development of our Multi-Brand strategy to bring the very best of today’s genetics to the farmer.  We look forward to the opportunity to work with the entire Producers team. In particular, we are pleased that Donna Herrick and Roger Nesbitt will continue to be active in the day to day management of the Company. Ms. Herrick will be responsible for the administrative functions, while Mr. Nesbitt will be in charge of the Sales and Marketing teams.   Both will continue to be based at the Producers headquarters in Battle Creek, Nebraska. The Producers brand will continue to be marketed through the same channels as in the past."

Roger Nesbitt stated that "I am excited about our alliance with AgReliant Genetics. We look forward to the access that AgReliant will bring us to top performing corn hybrids and soybean varieties for our marketing area. This connection with one of the five largest breeding programs in North America will allow us to continue to bring outstanding products to our customers."

AgReliant Genetics is a joint venture of the US and Canadian subsidiaries of GROUPE LIMAGRAIN of Chappes, France and KWS SAAT AG of Einbeck, Germany. Both parents are independent seed companies who are market leaders in corn seed research and sales throughout the world. AgReliant Genetics, LLC and its sister company in Canada, AgReliant Genetics Inc. headquartered in Chatham, Ontario, market corn, soybean, alfalfa, and other agricultural seeds in North America under the AgriGold, Great Lakes Hybrids, LG Seeds, Pride, and Wensman brand names.


KWS und Limagrain bauen Mais-Aktivitäten in Nordamerika aus

AgReliant, das Gemeinschaftsunternehmen von KWS und Limagrain in Nordamerika, baut seine Marktposition in dem weltweit größten Einzelmarkt für Maissaatgut weiter aus. Ende Dezember 2004 erwarb AgReliant die in Nebraska ansässige Saatgutgesellschaft Producers Hybrids. Diese Gesellschaft produziert und vertreibt schwerpunktmäßig Mais- und Sojabohnensaatgut in ihrem Kernmarkt Nebraska sowie in benachbarten US-Bundesstaaten.

Producers Hybrids ist ein wachsendes Saatgutunternehmen im westlichen Cornbelt mit einem Umsatz von ca. 25 Mio US $. Diese Akquisition ergänzt in idealer Weise die bereits bestehenden guten Marktpositionen von AgReliant im östlichen und nördlichen Cornbelt. Mit einem Anteil im Gesamtmarkt von nunmehr über 5 % gehört AgReliant zu den maßgeblichen Anbietern von Maissaatgut in Nordamerika.

KWS ist ein international arbeitendes, unabhängiges Unternehmen der Pflanzenzüchtung und konzentriert sich dabei auf die globalen Saatgutmärkte für landwirtschaftliche Nutzpflanzen mit den Schwerpunkten Zuckerrüben, Mais und Getreide. KWS ist in über 65 Ländern weltweit vertreten mit einem Umsatz in der Unternehmensgruppe von rd. 444 Mio €.


Limagrain et KWS renforcent leurs positions en semence de mais aux Etats-Unis

AgReliant Genetics, joint venture détenue à 50/50 par Limagrain et KWS, n°4 des semences de maïs en Amérique du Nord, annonce l’acquisition de Producers Hybrids basée dans le Nebraska, cette société régionale réalise 25 M$ de chiffre d’affaires.

Raphaël Journel, Directeur Général d’AgReliant, a déclaré : « AgReliant, qui a eu un développement régulier et rapide de ses ventes depuis sa création en 2000, est très satisfait d’accueillir Producers Hybrids. La société, dont la croissance a été soutenue dans l’ouest du Corn Belt, viendra renforcer les positions existantes d’AgReliant dans l’est et le nord du Corn Belt, en créant une excellente base de croissance pour le futur ».

AgReliant Genetics commercialise des semences de maïs et de soja aux Etats-Unis sous les marques AgriGold, Great Lakes, LG Seeds, Wensman et au Canada sous la marque Pride. Avec l’acquisition de Producers Hybrids, AgReliant détiendra plus de 5% du marché des semences de maïs aux USA.

Limagrain, groupe coopératif indépendant, 4ème semencier mondial, a réalisé sur l’exercice 2003-2004, un
chiffre d’affaires consolidé de 998 M€.
