The biotechnology company KF Bioplants, a joint venture of
Florist De Kwakel b.v.,
based in Aalsmeer, and Kumar GenTech (subsidiary from Kumar
Properties), based in Pune – India, has received an important
token of international appreciation from the Dutch ambassador in
India, Mr. C. Niehe. During the official opening of the second
KF laboratory in Pune, Mr. Niehe presented, in the name of Dutch
minister of agriculture Mr. Veerman, the Holland Award to the
managing director of KF Bioplants, Mr. Manish Jain.
At December 15th the official opening of a new
laboratory took place at a location just outside the Indian city
of Pune. This “state of the art” laboratory is equipped with
modern cooling chambers, initiation room, six growth rooms and
multiplication rooms. In this optimal production facility, young
plants from several floricultural products like Gerbera,
Anthurium, carnation, Limonium, Lilies and Zantedeschia
(Callalily) will be produced but also consumer products like
bananas and potatoes. This includes a 2 hectare greenhouse
complex for the hardening of young plants.
The inauguration ceremony was directly followed
by a speech of the Dutch ambassador regarding the relationship
between India and The Netherlands and the investments of Dutch
companies in India. Especially the cooperation and the enormous
growth of KF Bioplants were mentioned. Mr. Niehe praised the
unique accomplishment of KF Bioplants in the development and
support of the Indian floriculture sector and the future
possibilities of a new potato project in cooperation with the
Dutch potato breeding company Meijer.
The new laboratory of KF Bioplants is based in
the outskirts of the major Indian city Pune and has a surface of
2500 square meters. Next to this new laboratory KF Bioplants
owns a second laboratory in Pune with a surface of 3000 square
meters.
KF Bioplants is a joint venture of Florist De
Kwakel b.v. and Kumar GenTech and Tissue Culture in Pune. The
joint venture started in 1997 and has been growing in the past
years to become a worldwide player in the area of young plant
propagation. At this moment KF Bioplants exports to
approximately 25 countries and is market leader at the local
market with the delivery of starting material to growers. |
