The Seed
Association of the Americas (SAA) was incorporated on July 29,
2005.
The
corporation is organized for the purpose of:
-
engaging in public education and advocacy to advance
understanding in all matters concerning the development,
marketing and free movement of seed and seed-associated
products and services within the Americas (North America,
Central America and South America);
-
advocating with respect to legislation and regulation
impacting the seed industry in the Americas;
-
monitoring issues concerning the seed trade industry in the
Americas;
-
conducting conventions, research conferences, meetings and
seminars to educate and encourage fellowship among members
and their constituencies; and
- in
furtherance to all the foregoing, cooperating with other
national, regional and international organizations, both
public and private, that work on behalf of the seed
industry.
The initial priorities of the
Seed
Association of the Americas are intellectual property,
biotechnology, and sanitary and phyto-sanitary issues.
