Mycogen Seeds releases seven new Silage-Specific™ hybrids for 2006
Indianapolis, Indiana
August 8, 2005

Mycogen Seeds announces the availability of seven new Silage-Specific™ hybrids to expand its 2006 silage line-up. The new hybrid offerings include hybrids with Herculex® I Insect Protection technology and Roundup Ready® herbicide tolerance.

“We are excited to offer seven new silage hybrids which will help producers meet their silage production needs in 2006,” says Greg Cannon, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds.

New Silage-Specific Corn Hybrids

There are two new hybrids in the FullTime™ Forage brown mid-rib (BMR) category and five new hybrids in the TMF category of Silage-Specific hybrids. FullTime Forage BMR hybrids have lower lignin content and the highest fiber digestibility which promotes higher dry matter intake. TMF hybrids offer superior fiber digestibility, when compared to conventional hybrids. These hybrids provide more tonnage and higher dry matter intake.

F2F357 is a new 95-day FullTime Forage BMR hybrid that offers excellent forage yield, forage quality and a solid agronomic package. Its moderately tall plant type and good stress package provide versatility for different environmental conditions and agricultural practices.

Featuring a moderately tall plant type, F2F721 also offers a high NDF digestibility rating. This BMR hybrid combines improved gray leaf spot (GLS) tolerance and very good forage yield with a 113-day relative maturity.

TMF2L412 is a showy conventional silage hybrid that combines very good plant agronomics, stress tolerance, and plant health with forage yield. It also offers excellent forage quality that is consistent with other TMF hybrids.

A new 93-day silage hybrid, TMF2R336 offers an excellent agronomic package that protects the high-forage yield potential and silage quality of this hybrid. The plant characteristics of TMF2R336 make this hybrid suitable for various soil types, tillage systems and crop rotations.

TMF2H308 features Herculex® I Insect Protection which offers broad-spectrum protection from insect pests. It has very good plant agronomics to protect its yield potential and silage quality. TMF2H308 is a versatile hybrid that adapts to differing soil types, tillage systems and crop rotations.

A tall, leafy silage hybrid featuring high tonnage, TMF2N602 also offers Roundup Ready® herbicide technology. TMF2N602 produces large, flexing ears with white cobs and will average 10 or more leaves above the ear. It performs best at medium-low to medium plant densities.

TMF2Q714 is a high-yielding, silage hybrid that features Herculex I Insect Protection. It is tall with
a medium-high ear placement. It has excellent fall staygreen and very good reliability for silage production. It also offers excellent gray leaf spot tolerance (GLS).

“These seven new hybrids offer growers the availability of the latest in insect protection and herbicide resistance for the 2006 growing season,” concludes Cannon.
