Sakata and Syngenta reach agreement over intellectual property rights

Two major seed companies, Sakata Seed Corporation and Syngenta Seeds Inc. are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement resolving a dispute regarding intellectual property rights in certain broccoli.  The companies stated that their differences, which culminated in a definitive agreement, have been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. The terms of the agreement were not made public.

Representatives of both parties stated that they are pleased that the dispute could be resolved in an amicable manner. The protection of intellectual property is very important to both companies and each will continue to aggressively protect and defend their trade secrets and other intellectual property. 

Both Sakata and Syngenta are primary breeders, producers and marketers of vegetable and flower seeds.
