The Grains Research and
Development Corporation (GRDC) will continue to invest in
research into genetically modified (GM) crops.
GRDC
Chairman and Mt Barker graingrower, Terry Enright, confirmed
the continued support for GM research at Grains Week in Perth.
“We need to
facilitate the right sort of research to make sure the
information is available,” he said.
Mr Enright
said the GRDC would be willing to contribute to GM research
offshore if it was considered beneficial to Australian
graingrowers.
The GRDC
had previously invested in off-shore research to link with
international advances unavailable in Australia.
