Hazera Genetics Ltd.
is expanding its international
activities with the establishment of a subsidiary in Turkey. The
subsidiary is being founded according to Hazera’s policy of
establishing a presence in principal target markets and offering
focused specific solutions to the various markets.
The new subsidiary will engage
in breeding, promotion and marketing of varieties specifically
targeted to growing conditions in Turkey and will develop
distribution activity of vegetable seeds and field crops. The
subsidiary is currently involved in negotiations with a number
of local distributors who specialize in different areas, with a
view to entering into cooperation aimed at maximizing Hazera
Genetics’ genetic development capacity together with the
marketing abilities of local entities. The Turkish subsidiary
also represents the Japanese Sakata seed company, one of the
leading seed manufacturers in the world.
Turkey has seven main
agricultural regions, each with different growing conditions, a
situation which necessitates extensive and sophisticated
cultivation in order to fulfill market demand. It is considered
a country with enormous agricultural potential by virtue of its
geographical location, climatic conditions, large agricultural
areas and long-established agricultural tradition. Turkey is
also the largest producer and exporter of agricultural products
in the Middle East and a major exporter of agricultural products
to the European Union.
The Turkish government has
allocated priority to the agricultural sector and dictates the
policy, whose goal is to increase output in order to meet a
growth in demand. Quality and variety of seeds are important
elements and the government encourages private sector activity
in this area.
Robert Sevil has been appointed
as CEO of the new Turkish subsidiary. Mr. Sevil was formerly CEO
of the Hong Kong based Supercom Company, in addition to various
positions at Canon Israel, most recently as head of that
company’s sales division.
Hazera Turkey joins a series of
subsidiaries of Hazera Genetics, including those in Spain, the
USA and China. The company strives to be a leader in the
international market, developing innovative and unique vegetable
varieties and field crops with added value for both grower and
end consumer. The company is committed to providing the
necessary professional support to customers to enable them to
maximize the inherent commercial value of its products. The seed
market necessitates optimum adaptation of products to local
market requirements. Hazera’s local presence in prime target
markets enables the company to better familiarize itself with
local requirements and demands and thus provide better solutions
and service to its customers. |
