The ETH field
trials for transgenic wheat in Lindau
have been completed and the field has been cleared.
The Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH-Zürich) has
concluded its field trials with transgenic wheat in Lindau
on schedule. Before the genetically modified plants were
completely ripe, ETH researchers took the final plant and
soil tests. The wheat stalks will be burned, and the ground
scorched and sterilized.
This concludes the planting
phase of the ETH trials with genetically modified wheat and
now the laboratory research phase can begin.
First results will probably
be in by the end of the year.
