A new bioinformatics
tool, designed primarily for crop legume researchers, could
accelerate biological discovery and benefit growers.
Bioinformatics uses computerised tools to manage publicly
available genetic data.
Developed
by Grains Research and
Development Corporation supported Murdoch University
researchers, LegumeDB features customised databases and a
range of bioinformatics tools.
It
permits extensive hypothesis-driven bioinformatics analyses,
re-analysis of new data and detailed comparative genomics
analysis.
The
web-based system enables legume researchers to more
strategically manage and analyse species specific
experimental data to fast-track gene identification and gene
regulatory elements in important agronomic traits.
Researchers will be able
to compare results with publicly available legume data and
cross reference this with non-legume data to extract maximum
value from their work.
