Danson Seed Company, Inc. announces the second limited
release in a series of new determinate saladette tomatoes.
Saladette
1081, now named Halcon,
is among the earliest maturing saladettes in the Los Mochis and
Culiacan production areas of Mexico. It is about 10-14 days
earlier than Maya the current standard. Halcon
has a very concentrated set of fruit that are quite uniform for
size, shape, and maturity. The plant is very compact and should
be planted quite close together in either ground our stake
culture. This allows for higher plant population and a high
volume of production in November and December in Sinaloa.
Halcon
was developed for its tolerance to TYLCV which is transmitted by
white fly. It has shown consistent performance under heavy
white fly pressure in California, Baja California, Sinaloa, and
Maharastra.
