NIAB has just produced two
valuable publications to add to the knowledge base in the
vegetable world: the first is an all-new Organic Vegetable
Handbook and the second is an Amateur Catalogue Database
listing all varieties available to gardeners.
Mike Day, NIAB's Vegetable Specialist, said, "Our new organic
book, sponsored jointly by Elsoms Seeds and Bejo Zaden,
publishes trials data on 13 outdoor vegetable crops, including
potatoes. We've looked at 23 sites over 11 years and also listed
varieties available as organic seed, making this an invaluable
reference book for anyone considering producing top quality
organic vegetables."
"The amateur catalogue database is a valuable asset for those
interested in organic growing or amateur gardening. It's based
on 33 catalogues and includes over 4,250 varieties," he
continued.
"Both publications will be very valuable resources for
serious organic growers, gardening clubs, allotment associations
or keen individuals," he added.
The Organic Handbook is available from NIAB for £15 (inc p&p)
and the amateur catalogue database is available either as a hard
copy or on a floppy disc for £25 from the same source.
