Dr. Neil Forrester, an
internationally renowned entomologist and agronomist, will be
assuming the responsibilities of research director of special
projects and new markets for
Delta and Pine Land
Company effective immediately. This position adds to the
company's ongoing business development efforts. Forrester has
been with the company since 1999 working from Australia as
international vice president of entomology and more recently as
the technical services director for the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Bill Hugie, D&PL vice president of research, said he was
excited that Forrester would be bringing his research and field
experience to the company's global research efforts. "Delta and
Pine Land has made several announcements about new technologies
recently, with insect resistance being a key component. Neil has
a rich background in working with these types of technologies
both in the lab and as they are employed in the field. He will
investigate the application of new technologies and techniques
to help us bring tremendous value to our farmer customers in the
coming years," Hugie
explains.
Forrester earned a PhD in entomology at the University of
Queensland (Australia). For more than 20 years, Forrester worked
with New South Wales Agriculture Department. His contributions
to cotton entomology have garnered the attention and respect of
the International Cotton Advisory Committee, Australian Academy
of Science, International Union of Pure & Applied Chemistry
conferences, the United States Department of Agriculture, Indian
Council of Agricultural Research, as well as two segments of the
United Nations (the Industrial Development Organization and the
Food and Agriculture Organization).
Forrester is perhaps best known for his work in insect
resistance and has authored numerous papers on the topic. As an
expert in this field, Forrester has contributed to resistance
management plans in several of the world's leading cotton
markets including the U.S. and Australia.
Life-long residents of Australia, Forrester and his wife Kerrie
will relocate to the Mississippi Delta this spring as Forrester
will be working from the company's world headquarters in Scott.
