Data released from the INIFAP Trial Station in Chemetla,
Sinaloa, Mexico recent chile trial show a substantial
quantitative advantage in yield for Danson Jalapeno 3087 among
other commercial and semi commercial jalapeno lines. Its yield
of 51,328 units is nearly 24% higher than Coyame, 34% higher
than Grande, and more than 100% higher than the last place
hybrid, XPP0615.
The analysis was based upon three pickings starting December 30,
2002, January 16, 2003, and the final picking on February 14,
2003. The results are expressed in total bultos (bags) per
hectare:

3087 has shown to be tolerant to
cool weather and will set normal fruit while other jalapenos are
setting seedless small parthenocarpic fruit. The variety has
excellent adaptability in Baja and the West Coast of Mexico for
both Winter and Summer production.
