Rosetta Biosoftware
today announced that Mendel
Biotechnology licensed the Rosetta Resolver® system. The
Rosetta Resolver system is an enterprise-wide gene expression
data analysis system designed to meet the scientific and
business requirements of a global gene expression research
effort by providing quality data analysis within a highly
scalable and customizable analytical software solution.
"Mendel Biotechnology is a leader in plant functional
genomics research and recognizes the growing importance that
global transcript profiling data will have upon this field,"
said Bradley K. Sherman, Director of Bioinformatics of Mendel
Biotechnology. "The Rosetta Resolver system will allow us to
effectively analyze and mine these data to determine the
function of important plant genes and to develop plants and
plant-derived products that improve the quality of human life."
"Rosetta Biosoftware is proud to provide Mendel Biotechnology
with a system that will accelerate its research and have an
impact on its core business of plant genetics research," said
Douglas E. Bassett, Jr., Ph.D., vice president and general
manager of Rosetta Biosoftware. "Working in collaboration with
customers such as Mendel Biotechnology, Rosetta Biosoftware will
continue to extend the Rosetta Resolver system to meet the
future needs of cutting-edge gene expression research."
The Rosetta Resolver system is developed by Rosetta
Biosoftware and is distributed exclusively by Agilent
Technologies, Inc.
About the Rosetta Resolver System
The Rosetta Resolver system is a high-capacity data storage,
retrieval and analysis solution for gene expression data. The
system is ideal for life science research organizations that
need to assess compound specificity or toxicity, identify new
genes or therapeutic targets, or compare and analyze large
databases of expression profiles. The Rosetta Resolver system
combines flexibility and ease of use with high-performance
algorithms to produce an enterprise solution for rapid analysis
of gene expression data. The Rosetta Resolver system can accept
and analyze data from a wide variety of expression profiling
formats, including Agilent DNA microarrays, and applies Rosetta
Biosoftware's proprietary error models to yield quality
statistics for every gene expression measurement within the
system. These statistics are automatically leveraged by Rosetta
Resolver system analysis tools for optimal results. The system
is also highly customizable, and includes a Software Development
Kit (SDK) for extension and customization.
In addition to Mendel Biotechnology, other life science
research organizations that have licensed the Rosetta Resolver
system include many of the top pharmaceutical companies in the
world, such as Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb,
GlaxoSmithKline and Merck & Co., Inc., as well as premier
academic institutions such as the Harvard University Center for
Genomics Research. Additional information about the Rosetta
Resolver system can be found on the Rosetta Biosoftware Web site
at www.rosettabio.com.

About Mendel Biotechnology
Founded in 1997, Mendel Biotechnology, Inc. is a pioneer in
the application of functional genomics to the study of plant
genes. Mendel's mission is to discover and characterize the
function of plant regulatory genes and to develop and
commercialize high-value products based on these discoveries. In
addition to its WeatherGard® technology for chilling, freezing
and drought tolerance, Mendel has recently completed functional
characterization of essentially the complete set of
transcription factors in Arabidopsis thaliana. Mendel has
important partnerships with Monsanto Company, Seminis Vegetable
Seeds, and other multi-national agricultural-products companies.
