Saskatchewan Wheat Pool credit programs help producers manage cash flow

February 27, 2003

Saskatchewan Wheat Pool has strengthened its alliances with Farm Credit Canada (FCC) and John Deere Credit, enhancing Pool customers' access to industry-leading credit options to finance their farming operations.

"Cash flow management is an important consideration to producers in today's challenging environment," Pool CEO Mayo Schmidt said. "The credit programs we offer through these alliances are second to none and allow our customers to decide which terms work best for their farming operation."

The FCC Crop Input loan program, the first of its kind when it was introduced in January 2002, allows producers to purchase crop inputs now and not pay for them until January 31, 2004. Effective March 1 of this year, the Pool will offer an interest credit option for customers who choose to pay their account monthly. The Pool will pay the interest charges on all current purchases for customers who have paid their account in full by the 20th of the month following the purchase.

For customers whose needs are more closely suited to a revolving line of credit, the Pool has allied with John Deere Credit, which offers AgLineTM . AgLine has monthly billing periods with minimum monthly payments of 10 per cent required, although producers can reduce or avoid interest charges by paying the balance in full by the statement due date. Customers earn AIR MILES® reward miles* on all purchases made through AgLine, and in addition, can receive 100 bonus AIR MILES by purchasing a minimum of $3,500 worth of supplies from any Pool or AgPro location during the month of February, March or April of this year.

Applications for the FCC crop input program are available on the Pool's web site at www.swp.com, while applications for AgLine can be found at www.agline.com. More detail on both of these programs is available at www.swp.com or at local Pool and AgPro facilities.

*Standard offer is one AIR MILES reward mile for each $50 charged to your AgLine Account. Excluding fees, late payment charges, interest on late payment charges and interest on past due interest. AIR MILES reward miles are awarded based on monthly net purchases. Account must be in good standing.
