Dairyland Seed releases new soybean varieties

West Bend, Wisconsin
August 4, 2003

Dairyland Seed recently announced the release of 9 new soybean varieties for the 2004 planting season.  Each of these varieties can be seen at research tours and field days through the Midwest this fall.  The descriptions of the new products for this area include:

DSR-050/RR   MATURITY 0.5 Entered in 2002 trials as DST-0811/RR, this soybean showed very high yields and features a very good iron chlorosis score.  5 bushels better than Pioneer P90B72/RR.  First in the 2002 University of Minnesota Northern Roundup trial, 10 bu/a. above the plot average.

DSR-132/RR    MATURITY 1.3
High yielding with a very good iron chlorosis score.  Features the Rps1c gene for phytophthora root rot resistance plus brown stem rot resistance.  Showing a 4 bushel yield advantage over P91B52/RR and a 2 bushel yield advantage over S10-T1RR in research trials.

DSR-234/RR    MATURITY 2.3   An extremely consistent, high yielding new soybean variety. It shows very good tolerance to iron chlorosis, white mold, sudden death syndrome, and PRR.  Also carries resistance to brown stem rot and is segregating for the Rps1k phytophthora resistance gene. On the toughest ground or the best ground, this bean consistently produces high yield.  Has a 4 bushel average advantage over P92B38RR, A2302/RR and S24-K4RR in research trials.

DSR-245/RR    MATURITY 2.5   A widely adapted high yielding cultivar.  It carries the Rps1k gene for phytophthora root rot resistance and features excellent iron chlorosis tolerance.  A unique genetic mix that complements DSR-221/RR or DSR-228/RR.  Outyielding AG2602RR, P92B74RR and S24-K4RR by 2 bushels in research trials.

DSR-277/RR    MATURITY 2.7   A very healthy soybean variety with the best white mold tolerance available and superb standability.    It has excellent yield potential and is outyielding AG2602RR, AG2703RR, AG2905RR, P92B38RR, P92B62NRR and P92B71RR by 2 bushels in Dairyland research trials.

DSR-326/RR    -SCN- MATURITY 3.3 Full resistance to soybean cyst nematode from the PI88788 source.  It also carries the Rps1k gene for phytophthora root rot resistance.  Shows very good tolerance to brown stem rot.  Yields competitively in non-cyst environments and shows strong yields where cysts are present.  Outyielding A3302 in our trials.

DSR-345/RR    MATURITY 3.4   An exciting new Roundup Ready line with high yield potential across a wide variety of conditions.  This soybean features the Rps1k gene for phytophthora resistance, has brown stem rot resistance and has very good white mold tolerance.  It is outyielding A3201RR, A3302RR, A3503RR, A3701RR, A3702RR, A3903RR, and P93B67NRR by 2.5 bu/a. in more than 750 research comparisons.

DSR-355    —SCN--  MATURITY 3.5    An extremely high yielding soybean cyst nematode resistant conventional variety. It is a large plant which develops a quick canopy.  It is outdistancing A3204, A3704, A3834, P93B82, and P93B87 in research trials.  Where cyst pressure exists, its advantage is even stronger!

DSR-385/RR   —SCN-- MATURITY 3.8
A very high yielding soybean to add to our full season lineup.  Shows moderate cyst resistance.  Had outstanding performance in 2002 research trials.  Outyielded AG3702, AG3903, AG4101, P94B23NRR and S39-D9RR by 5 bu/a. in those trials.  A strong yielder that moves north very well.
