Delta and Pine Land
Company (D&PL) has announced the appointment of David Hansen
to the position of country manager, China. "With his extensive
experience in the seed industry and agribusiness, David will be
an integral part of our continued growth strategy in China,"
says Tom
Jagodinski, D&PL president and chief executive officer.
Based in Beijing, Hansen will be responsible for strategic
planning, product development, production, as well as marketing
and sales of the company through its joint venture businesses.
Hansen will coordinate the business strategy of the joint
ventures in Hebei and Anhui provinces, where the
company sells cotton seed enhanced with the Bollgard gene.
Cotton growers in these areas have rapidly adopted D&PL genetics
given the yield and quality potential inherent in Deltapine's
products.
Prior to joining D&PL, Hansen was sales and marketing manager
for AGROTAIN International in Canada, responsible for nitrogen
stabilization technology and market development in both crop and
turf segments. Previously, he was sales and marketing manager
for Advanta Seeds and its predecessor Zeneca Seeds. In this
position, he was responsible for the sales and marketing of
hybrid and synthetic canola technology as well as sunflower
technology in Canada. His work outside Canada included the
development of seed technology in the US and Brazil.
