Scott Gibson joined
Delta
and Pine Land Company as
Director of Business Development effective yesterday. Gibson
will work with several groups within D&PL to continue developing
the company's US and international business and through
the introduction of new products and technologies. Gibson is
familiar to many in the cotton industry from the time spent
working with BASF.
"Scott brings the needed strong background in business
development as well as a thorough knowledge of the cotton
industry to D&PL," said Rick Greene, D&PL's vice president of
finance and treasurer. "Having worked with various members of
the industry and our staff through previous cotton initiatives,
Scott has many of the relationships which will prove invaluable
in his new role at D&PL."
Gibson worked with BASF for more than 20 years in a number of
roles ranging from the science-based field biologist to his most
recent role as manager of marketing strategy. His career
includes extensive work in the global cotton business. He earned
a bachelors degree in agronomy and a masters degree in plant
sciences focusing on plant physiology at Southern Illinois
University in Carbondale. Gibson is actively involved in the
National Agricultural Marketing Association, the Southern Crop
Protection Association and the Agronomy Society of America. He
will be relocating to the Mid-South to work
from D&PL's Scott headquarters.
Delta and Pine Land Company is a commercial breeder, producer
and marketer of cotton planting seed, as well as soybean seed in
the Cotton Belt. For more than 80 years, the Mississippi-based
company has used its extensive plant breeding programs drawing
from a diverse germplasm base to develop superior varieties.
