during the first year of trial in Spain. With a yield of 111% of
the control varieties, HELEN was ranked top in official trials
within its maturity group.
CHARRON, AMAZON, LUCERO and HELEN will complement the Advanta
Ibérica maize portfolio, rich in 30 or so hybrids. Among them,
CUMBRE (700), PEGASO (600), DUENDE (500), CHAGAL (400) and
PHARAON (200) are the main commercial varieties in Spain &
Portugal.
Advanta has a long
history of breeding maize varieties for the major European
markets. Today, Advanta can rely on a network of five maize
research teams in Europe who work in close relationship with the
research teams of our American sister company, Garst. Advanta
has been a market leader in maize in
Northern European countries for many years. To meet expectations
of Southern markets, Advanta breeding teams have particularly
focused on late grain genetics. Now, with these results and
others, Advanta has demonstrated its new abilities by increasing
market share not only in Spain, but also in South of France,
Italy, Greece or Turkey, all thanks to these new very
competitive grain maize products.
