Pickseed Canada Inc. is pleased to announce two important promotions and a major strategic development.

Pickseed Canada is a leading developer, producer and distributor of forage crop and turfgrass seeds. The company operates conditioning plants in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Edmonton, Alberta and Dawson Creek, BC. Seed production is contracted with growers across the three prairies provinces and in BC’s Peace River region. Most of this seed is conditioned in the Company’s locations.

The company’s Wholesale Department will now be headquartered at the Winnipeg location. This plant is the company’s leading volume location and has the personnel structure, the location, and the logistical resources to aptly fit the needs of this growing activity.

Concurrent with this move management has named Mr. Terry Ewacha to the role of Director-Wholesale Operations, and Mr. Kurt Shmon, Manager Export (offshore) Sales and Grower Services.

Terry will be responsible for seed cleaning and logistics across all Pickseed locations, the procurement of forages from third parties and the wholesale sales effort throughout the North America trade.

Kurt will maintain responsibility for Grower Services, and will spearhead all offshore Sales and Multiplication contracts.

Terry Ewacha has more than 20 years experience at Pickseed, starting as a Grower Service Representative; then assuming responsibility for Pickseed’s Winnipeg location.

Kurt has been at Pickseed for 18 years, most recently running the Grower activities throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and southern Alberta. He has an intimate knowledge of matching buyer’s needs with growers’ production skills.

Both of these experienced men bring a high level of energy, enthusiasm and experience to a business sector that holds an important growth opportunity for Canadian agriculture.
