Tests show top-end yield
potential
Delta
and Pine Land Company
(D&PL) announced the addition of SG 215 BG/RR to its cotton
products lineup for 2002. The product is a new high-yielding,
early-maturing transgenic picker variety containing both
Bollgard® and Roundup Ready® technologies. The announcement was
made at the New Developments from Industry Session of the 2002
Beltwide Cotton Conferences in Atlanta.
"SG 215 BG/RR is a widely adapted, early-maturing, stacked-gene
picker variety that has produced high yields in a wide range of
environments and will provide growers with a new tool with
top-end yield potential," said Dr. Ken Lege', D&PL's director of
technical services for the eastern Cotton Belt. "In head-to-head
comparisons with early-maturing stacked-gene varieties, it
consistently was the highest performer, both in lint yield and
value."
Company and state official variety trial data show that SG 215
BG/RR has produced more lint yield per acre than other
early-maturing varieties across the Cotton Belt. D&PL data also
show that SG 215 BG/RR generated more crop revenue per acre than
the other commercially available BG/RR varieties across the
Cotton Belt.
SG 215 BG/RR has smooth leaves and very good seedling vigor. It
is widely adapted to various soil types and farm practices,
including conventional and minimum tillage, as well as ultra
narrow row and skip row.
