Golden
Valley Seed Co. and Westar Seeds International, Inc. have
finalized a settlement of litigation in federal court concerning
disputes over Westar Seeds’ alleged unauthorized use of Golden
Valley Seed’s registered trademark "SEED EXPORT", its trade
dress on seed cans and its copyrighted onion seed label.
Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Westar Seeds has
paid an undisclosed amount of money to Golden Valley Seed and
agreed to refrain from future use of Golden Valley Seed’s "SEED
EXPORT" trademark, its trade dress on seed cans and its
copyrighted onion seed label.
Golden Valley Seed is a developer, producer and marketer of
vegetable seeds for the vegetable producing markets of the
world. The company uses traditional breeding programs to offer
enhanced vegetable varieties. Its varieties are designed to
offer extended shelf life, increased yields, more disease
resistances to reduce dependence on chemical inputs, higher
product quality for longer shipping capabilities, with increased
nutritional content and better flavor. Since its inception in
1998 Golden Valley Seed has established an international
presence with worldwide distribution.
