Zeraim
Gedera Ltd. breeds high quality vegetable varieties,
produces and markets the seeds of such varieties to
customers worldwide. Local
farmers in Gedera, located some 50 miles southeast of
Tel-Aviv, established
the company in 1952. Zeraim Gedera is managed by the
founders’ second and third generations, and
Syngenta owns the Company today.
Zeraim Gedera specializes in 6 crops:

focuses on “high end” products for consumers and growers. In
all programs the focus is both on fruit qualities attractive
to consumers, such as superior taste, nutritional values and
long shelf-life as well as traits important to growers, such
as high yield and resistance to diseases.
In
order to strengthen the Company’s portfolio, Zeraim Gedera’s
in-house breeding teams, which consist of 15 breeders,
cooperate with scientists from world-renowned Israeli
Scientific Institutions such as
The Weizmann Institute,
The Volcani Center
(ARO) and the Hebrew
University’s Faculty of Agriculture as well as with
scientific institutes throughout the world.
Zeraim Gedera developed a special set of services, aiming at
adding values to each one of its partners along the supply
chain – nurseries, growers, shippers and category managers
as well as retailers and consumers. For this purpose, the
company maintains very close relationships with its chain
partners, learning their needs and wants in order to align
its breeding and services accordingly.
The
Company has over 160 employees worldwide; subsidiaries in
Holland, Spain, the UK, USA, Mexico and Hong-Kong and branch
offices in Turkey, China and Thailand.
