XBEET®
- A new generation priming technology for sugar beet seed
XBEET® in the USA
Whilst Advantage (branded as PAT) was also marketed in the USA
during the 1990’s and early 2000’s, Germain’s in the USA
developed a novel priming technology, which very quickly
demonstrated additional benefits under North American
conditions. The new technology, branded XBEET, permitted the
seed to be ‘advanced’ to a much higher degree than was possible
with Advantage, without any deleterious effects to seed safety
or quality. Through three years of trials and testing in the Red
River Valley and Michigan beet growing areas, XBEET primed seed
consistently demonstrated superior performance in speed and rate
of emergence, final stand, beet yield and recoverable sugar per
hectare in all trial sites.

*In each of the years of testing, XBEET demonstrated
statistical significance at the P<0.05 level for root
yield and white sugar yield against unprimed, and
against Advantage in 2006. |

In 2007, the
trials carried out at the Northwest Research and Outreach Centre
returned significant differences for plant populations, tonnes
of beet per hectare, and sugar yield at the P<0.01 level.
XBEET in its year of launch in the American Crystal Sugar
Company beet growing area in the Red River Valley captured ca.
6% of the plantings in 2007. Demand for 2008 indicates that ca.
35% of the area will be supplied with XBEET primed seed.
