Trait Project Leader

Location: Paris or Chappes, France, and/or Einbeck, Germany

Genective S.A., a GM technology Joint Venture of two leading, globally active seed companies, Groupe Limagrain and the KWS Group, is conducting ambitious R&D programs for the improvement of maize and possibly in the future other crops. The company is headquartered in Paris, France.

For Genective’s GM activities in corn we seek individuals to support the development of its trait portfolio pipeline (research discovery through to commercialization).

For selected traits and working primarily through the respective functions including some parent companies platforms [–research, technology scouting, breeding, regulatory, intellectual property, legal, business development and stewardship] and/or with third party R&D partners the Trait Project Leader will undertake the following main tasks:

  • Co-ordinate the articulation of the overall project plan for Genective pipeline trait(s);
  • Provide overall co-ordination of the input required from the parent companies´ functions, or third party R&D providers throughout the research and development phases for the pipeline trait(s);
  • Manage the overall research and development plan for selected trait(s);
  • Establish appropriate delivery milestones associated with trait delivery;
  • Accountable for the tracking of the development of the trait projects (s) along the Genective stage plan;
  • Propose stage plan promotions for Genective pipeline trait(s)
  • Ensure that delivery is on time and on budget and propose changes where necessary;
  • Work closely with the Genective Quality Assurance Manager to ensure global stewardship principles are adhered to;
  • Propose in close coordination with the functions annual and mid-term budgets for the pipeline trait(s);
  • Liaise with Genective finance function on budgets and forecasting;
  • Report on deviations from project plans and their impact on research and development of the trait(s) and associated budgets;
  • Provide oversight to the positioning of the trait(s) in the market place

The location of the position(s) would be Paris or Chappes, France, and/or Einbeck, Germany, subject to negotiations.

To the Chief Executive Officer of Genective

Qualifications and experience :

  • Qualifications in project management complemented by a proven track record in the life sciences area. Experience in plant breeding and molecular biology as well as knowledge of seed businesses would be advantageous;
  • Experience in working in an R&D environment with project management systems; previous experience on project management involving third parties and services providers will be a plus
  • Experience in working with legal, intellectual property, research, controlling, and business development functions;
  • Ability to manage a number of projects and deliver against milestones;
  • Proficient English language skills, orally and in writing (excellent verbal and written communication); basic French and/or German language skills would be advantageous;
  • Ability to report recipient-oriented to different management levels;
  • Willingness to undertake frequent travel;
  • Experience in working with and managing relationships with partners and collaborators from multicultural backgrounds;
  • Ability to build relationships, influence service providers, and partners;
