BRUINSMA SEEDS B.V. is specialised in breeding high quality vegetables for professional greenhouse cropping such as tomato, cucumber, pepper, eggplant, melon, squash and lettuce varieties. Established in 1934, the business is now a well known leader in greenhouse crops. This position was reinforced in 1996 by merging into the SEMINIS group, the largest plant breeder in the world.

SPECIALIST IN GREENHOUSE CROPS
Bruinsma's strength comes from its expertise in a specialist range of crops. This is reflected by the production of the first tomato hybrid in Western Europe under the name of Single Cross and introduction of the first beef tomato to this market. With cucumbers, in both long and short types, Bruinsma maintains a strong market position in many countries. The Bruinsma research and breeding centre is located in a seven hactare, modern glasshouse complex at Honselersdijk, where reference stocks are maintained and first tests on new crosses are performed.

New strains are assessed by the breeders, plant selectors and cultivation specialists at Bruinsma for quality, resistance to disease and yield. The best varietiesare then testedin practicefor several seasons by our product development departments in several countries. Only strains which successfully pass all the test stages are introduced to the market. Cultivation specialists carefully monitor these varieties for their cultivation requirements. Trough this comprehensive appraoch to quality seed production, the grower can be assured that Bruinsma Seeds are the basis of healthy and successful crops supported by technical information and cultivation techniques and the final product.
