Marker-assisted selection (MAS)
using specific trait-linked molecular markers for
selecting specific agronomically important traits
through DNA analysis for most crop species. We locate
and utilize molecular markers closely linked to, or even
located within, one or more quantitative trait loci
(QTLs) to increase the selection response directly.
DNA marker-assisted backcrossing using simple
sequence repeats (SSR) and other efficient and
polymorphic-based molecular markers enables the speedy
recovery of a recurrent parent in a backcross-breeding
program. This timesaving method shaves years from the
product development cycle. Specific molecular marker
techniques are available upon request.
Application of molecular markers in variety
identification, hybrid purity, and trait purity analysis
using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), cleaved
amplified polymorphic DNA (CAP), sequence characterized
polymorphic region (SCAR), simple sequence repeats
(SSR), microsatellites, inter-simple sequence repeat
(ISSR) and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers
for fingerprinting and identifying cultivated crop
varieties and assessing varietal distinctness.
Genetic map construction and custom DNA marker
development (DMD) identifying and developing linked
markers for customized trait mapping without having to
rely on unreliable phenotypic performance traits.
Developing requisite molecular markers provides the
fundamental tools necessary for selective breeding of
agronomic species and supports linkage mapping and MAS
breeding. |
Hybrid purity testing using DNA-based markers,
Iso-electric Focusing (IEF), seed storage protein gel
electrophoresis and DNA analysis of F1 seeds for percent
purity, we determine true hybrids from selfs, identify
off types and insure the highest seed quality.
DNA fingerprinting (genotype profiling) for variety
protection to identify the unique DNA fingerprint of
your cultivar, which is required for an award of
proprietary varietal rights.
Biotechnology consulting. We are dedicated to
providing distinctive professional consultation to guide
the client through sequence assembly, annotation, marker
selection and analysis.
Genetically modified organism (GMO) testing.
Food safety to demonstrate that a food product does
or does not contain GMO.
Organic breeding to demonstrate that a seed or grain
stock does not contain GMO.
Value-added product to demonstrate that the intended
modification is present for optimal breeding.
