I forsee 5 major trends:

1. The influence of biotech will grow. This was discussed thoroughly
before.

2. The fruit will become a carrier of traits that are important to mankind
and will be used not only for consumption but also for industrial use.

3. Globalization will become stronger. You will see more activity of
western companies in the east and vise versa.

4. Continuation of M&A will create at least one more conglomerate and
some new smaller alliances.

5. Due to the growing segmentation of the fresh produce market and the
quest for novelties and innovative products, I believe that we are going
to face more protection of IP (identity preservation) through branding of products.
