No business
or vegetable seed business is easy to establish and to run
efficiently and profitably, but my advantage over colleagues
in Europe and North America was probably being in a private
and family-owned business with less structure, rules and
restrictions.
I (we) could make decisions quicker
and even if some of them turned out to be mistakes, I could
learn from my mistakes, improve, and not make the same
mistakes again.
Colleagues in more structured
environments are trained not to make mistakes and therefore
the learning curve in gaining experience to handle
extraordinary situations is a lot flatter and slower.
