STA Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1987 and is now in its 15^th year of operation. STA was the first independent laboratory offering hybrid purity testing by electrophoresis to the seed industry. In 1989, STA expanded its services to include seed analysis (germination and physical purity tests), and in 1991 STA became the first independent laboratory to offer seed health testing services. We are the only company to offer all three seed quality testing services to the seed industry.

Over 1000 companies and governmental agencies have utilized our seed quality services, research services and product distribution. Over the years, STA has gained international recognition as a leader in seed quality testing, and now serves clients from around the world.

STA operates two facilities in the United States. Our new state-of-the-art laboratory facility in Longmont, Colorado opened earlier this year. The new building includes 8800 sq. ft. of laboratory space equipped with three 8x10 foot growth chambers and 2200 sq. ft. greenhouse. All of the above services are provided from our Colorado facility. In addition, STA manages over 20,000 sq. ft. of additional greenhouse space in Colorado.

Our second facility opened in 1998 in Gilroy, California and is located in the heart of the US vegetable seed industry. Our California facility has 9000 sq. ft. of laboratory space, plus 8000 sq. ft. greenhouses. In 2001 we expanded our services and now offer seed analysis, seed health testing, disease diagnosis, seed analysis and resistant gene documentation (breeder support) services.
